Industrial Supply Chain Logistics – Project Manager

What you will do
As Industrial Supply Chain Logistics - Project Manager at the Kuehne Climate Center (KCC) you will be responsible for the implementation of projects that help shape efficient logistics systems for bio-based construction materials, primarily timber. You work on enhancing supply chain logistics at the company level as well as on the development of national and regional logistics systems to support material flows. The initial focus of your work will be on East Africa (Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda). You will work with the Program Leader based in Germany, and multiple international and national delivery partners and stakeholders to ensure the projects contribute to making logistics a facilitator of the bio-based construction industry. 
As Industrial Supply Chain Logistics - Project Manager you will have responsibility for:
  • Assuring the successful implementation of KCC’s projects in timber and biomass construction, with a potential expansion to other industries at a later point in time
  • Conducting supply chain assessments and translating findings into actionable improvement initiatives
  • Identifying and engaging a range of diverse stakeholders from industry, NGOs, government, and society in the respective project work
  • Organizing and leading workshops, conferences, and learning events to foster knowledge sharing and collective action
  • Ensuring projects meet objectives, timelines, and budgets while aligning with KCC’s strategic and operational frameworks
  • Contributing to new project proposals and initiatives in industrial supply chain logistics
  • Contribute to internal projects and business development initiatives
 
The KCC is a new subsidiary of the Kühne Foundation. Our mission is to accelerate climate-compatible development within logistics (Climate Action in Logistics) and through logistics systems (Logistics for Climate Action). We do this through applied research & thought leadership, project & advisory work, and training & capacity building, with a focus on countries of the Global South.
 
This role is based in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, where you will be in one of our satellite offices affiliated to the central office in Nairobi. While our headquarters in Hamburg provides global oversight and support, your work in Dar Es Salaam will drive on-the-ground impact—collaborating closely with local teams, partners, and institutions to advance our projects in Eastern Africa.

You bring
  • 8+ years professional experience, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain logistics / operations and 3 years working with industrial supply chains (e.g., construction, infrastructure, heavy- and bulk industry, industrial equipment and material, forestry, mining, etc.)
  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., economics, business administration with a supply chain / operations management focus; engineering)
  • Familiarity with relevant authorities and statutory professional boards (e.g., ERB, CRB, PSPTB, OSHA, TPA, NEMC) in Tanzania and the East African region is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Can-do mentality, independent work style, and willingness to roll up sleeves
  • Ability to connect with remote team and leadership
  • Availability to travel internationally
  •  Tanzanian citizenship
